High temperature vacuum furnaces, Thermal Technology Inc. (Click to return to home page)

PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release - September 1998

The Brew Division of Thermal Technology has recently designed and manufactured a very high vacuum / hydrogen furnace for heat treating and brazing applications. Our customer needed specialty features such as 1.0 x 10-7 torr vacuum at 1400° C, computer controls and a hot water system to minimize condensation.

High Vacuum/Hydrogen Furnace

This horizontal furnace system has full opening front and rear doors and a usable heated area of 36" wide by 30" high by 48" deep. The hot zone has molybdenum heating elements on all six sides. Each of the six heater arrays has independent power control which allows the furnace to be tuned to provide ± 5° C temperature uniformity or better depending upon the thermal load and processing parameters.

The furnace was supplied with a 35" diffusion pumped vacuum system, liquid nitrogen cold trap and automatic switch-over Dewar station. The furnace is also capable of operating in hydrogen atmosphere (wet or dry) to 1100° C. Since safety is always of primary concern, multiple safety features were incorporated into the furnace design. The furnace is equipped with explosion-proof valving, primary and secondary pressure relief ports, a dual ignitor burn-off tower and a residual gas analyzer. Other features include controls with uninterruptible power supplies, mass flow gas controller and recirculating gas cooling system.

High Vacuum/Hydrogen Furnace -- Front and Rear Doors

A close working relationship with our customer enabled us to gain a solid understanding of their processes which in turn enabled us to offer a furnace system that will give them a competitive edge in their marketplace. We enthusiastically await the opportunity to work with customers and to meet the serious demands of their high temperature processes.

Thermal Technology will be in Booth No. 863 at the upcoming ASM Heat Treating Exposition, October 12 - 15, 1998 in Rosemont, Illinois. Please stop by to discuss your furnace requirements. If you cannot make it to the show, contact us for more information on our full line of Brew and Astro furnace systems.
