Thermal Technology recently shipped a laboratory hot press to a customer in
the United States for use in their research and development facility.
The customer is a developer and manufacturer of opto-electronic
products for the telecommunications industries.
Thermal
Technology’s Laboratory and Pressmaster uniaxial hot press systems are
designed for simultaneous application of high temperatures and high
pressures. Primary
applications include densification of powdered ceramics and metals,
diffusion bonding of solid components, and processing of fibrous
composites. Each Thermal
Technology hot
press is supplied as a complete system. Systems are available for press capacities to 200 tons and
temperatures to 2500°C. Available
options include: load cells,
hot ejection, high vacuum systems, interchangeable hot zones, data
acquisition systems, and programmable simultaneous temperature/ pressure
control.
Our
customer selected a model HP52-0914-SC laboratory hot press for their
processing requirements. This
25-ton hot press with silicon carbide heating elements is rated for
operation to 1500°C in oxidizing or high purity inert gases, 1350°C in
commercial reducing atmospheres and 1200°C in dry hydrogen or vacuum
atmospheres.
